What the water kept
“I found myself standing in an endless, quiet library where the bookshelves stretched into a violet sky instead of a ceiling, filled with books whose titles shifted every time I tried to read them. I picked up a heavy, leather-bound volume, and as soon as I opened it, the pages turned into clear stream water that spilled over my hands and transformed the marble floor into a field of glowing, blue tallgrass. A brass train engine, whispering softly like a ticking clock, glided noiselessly through the grass without any tracks, stopping right beside me with its brass doors swinging wide open as if waiting for me to step inside.”
